The current version of Star Citizen Alpha 3.8.1 not only introduces the ability to (finally) remove the game’s film grain effect but also grants participants access to what is essentially a Free Fly period for every ship currently flyable in-game. Therefore for the next couple of days at least, I will be showing off photographs of a number of my favourite ships presently in the game.

Starting with one of the ships I have pledged towards, below are snaps of the Origin Jumpworks 600i, or the 600i for short. Today’s focus is on the Touring variant, more of a personal transport ship featuring the Origin Jumpworks style of luxury. This was the first larger luxury ship developed in-game, and while its overall approach is lacking in comparison to the 890 Jump (hopefully the 600i will receive an aesthetic upgrade down the line), it is still a very nice ship to fly across the stars by yourself or with a few other friends.

In development by Cloud Imperium Games and their studios across North America and Europe, Star Citizen is being helmed by Wing Commander (1990s) creator Chris Roberts. The game has currently been in a long-term alpha phase with no confirmed release date. Despite this, the studio has raised more than $250 million USD through on-going crowdfunding.

Take That (In-Game) Snap Daily Photo is an off-shoot of the upcoming Take That (In-Game) Snap article series. This looks at, celebrates and critiques how video game developers have implemented professional photography-like systems into their games. It will cover how the systems handle, just how accessible they are and, where applicable, how a modding community might be making these tools even better. With this Daily Photo spin-off series, I will be sharing individual photos from the games either covered or soon-to-be-covered in the series.
