Wasn’t this discussion….
Supposed to be about who was gonna take care of Rin…?
All they’re doing is going through rehearsed lines and calling it a “discussion”…
Don’t tell me they arrived at the conclusion…
To this alleged discussion before it even got started…?

Going home for his grandfather’s funeral, thirty-year-old bachelor Daikichi is floored to discover that the old man had an illegitimate child with a younger lover! The rest of his family is equally shocked and also embarrassed by this surprise development, and not one of them wants anything to do with the silent little girl, Rin. In a fit of angry spontaneity, Daikichi decides to take her in himself! But will living with this overgrown teenager of a man help Rin come out of her shell? And hang on, won’t this turn of events spell doom for Daikichi’s love life?!

The Noitamina timeslot has been known to air a number of out there titles, Welcome to Irabu’s Office, C: Control, Tatami Galaxy and the like, as well as some normal seeming titles that have one specific area of focus, for example, in the series Honey and Clover there was a strong emphasis on romance which caused the characters to do some far out things. Whilst I havent even scratched the surface of watching all Noitamina series, Usagi Drop, also known as Bunny Drop to readers of the manga series would be the most normal series in the slot by far.

I own all three currently released volumes of the manga, and I can say that this series differs from most other series that has a male raising a child. Daikichi is by far the central character in the series and focuses on his joy and hardships whilst raising his younger aunt instead of focusing on Rin and her life throughout pre-school, Elementary School and then later High School. Whilst this may sound like the adventures of a working class man, if the series stays faithful to the manga series, then it will no doubt be a rewarding watch for everyone. At the very least, it is a Noitamina title, and they are almost always good series, right?

The design is very well done, and just like the manga isn’t so much on making the world a bright and sunny place. Voice acting is what I expected and is respective of what I feel the characters would sound like in real life. The song playing in the background is the Opening Theme SWEET DROPS by Puffy and I was curious to as what style of song they would choose, and this is a suitable one.

Currently there is no word on if Siren Visual will be picking up this title for their simulcasting, however I personally hope they do.
